Our practice operates by appointment so that we can serve you better. Emergencies are seen at any time during our open hours. Even though we make a sincere effort to adhere to our appointment schedule unexpected emergencies can cause delays and we ask for your understanding. It is important to let the receptionist know if you would like to see a particular vet. A phone call is appreciated if you need to change an appointment and to order repeat prescriptions.
Our opening hours are as follows:
Monday to Friday consultations are between 8.00am and 1pm, then again from 2.00pm to 6.00pm.
Saturdays 9am-12pm
Sundays and Public Holidays Closed

Pre anaesthetic blood testing is an important part of pre anaesthetic evaluation of your pet. This is especially important for pets over 7 years of age.
We recommend a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Biochemistry panel which should include a thyroid function test for cats over 7 years. A urine test may also be necessary if your pet is showing signs of kidney disease.
If your pet is to have surgery or a dental procedure with hold food after 10.00pm on the night before the procedure. Do not give your pet breakfast the morning of surgery.
If your pet has diabetes or a kidney problem please call the clinic for fasting instructions. Any regular medications should be continued unless instructed otherwise. If you have any questions please phone us
Surgery and dental cases are admitted to the clinic between 8.00a.m. and 9.00a.m. It is important that we have your contact number so that we can text or phone you with an update during or after surgery. When we call you we will schedule an afternoon or evening appointment to discuss your pets and go over the discharge instructions. During recovery all vital signs are monitored and pain medication is given to smooth recovery. For routine surgical procedures the nurses will discharge patients after 4.00pm.
On admittance to the hospital a general anaesthetic consent and procedure form must be signed.
With modern anaesthesia the risk is minimal. To help prevent complications we recommend pre-anaesthetic lab work. This can be done on the morning of your pet’s surgery as we have an Idexx Blood Analyser in the clinic.
Every patient is given a thorough examination prior to anaesthesia and during anaesthesia blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation along with respiration and temperature, are monitored. Core body temperature is maintained with warm water beds and intravenous fluids.
A qualified veterinary nurse, as well as a veterinarian is with your pet from induction till they are recovered from anaesthesia.
The preferred pick up time for surgical cases is between 3.00pm and 6.00pm.
For major surgical or dental cases a pick up time must be arranged when a veterinarian is able to speak to you.
